Eastern Homs: ISIL launching offensive against Syrian Army with US back up

The US Forces have been providing the ISIL with intelligence and field backup to enable the terrorist group to storm the army positons in Eastern Homs, an Arab media outlet reported on Tuesday.

Hawzah News Agency (Homs, Syria) - The Arabic-language al-Ahed news website reported that the US-run al-Tanf base at Syria's border with Jordan has been a center for gathering, preparing and rapid transfer of terrorists to different battlefields in Syria, adding that al-Tanf has played a pivotal role in the US heliborne operations to transfer ISIL terrorists to safe regions as the base is located between the Euphrates River's banks in Southern Deir Ezzur, Northeastern Sweida and Badiyeh (desert) along al-Sukhnah road to Deir Ezzur.

The website went on to say that the terrorists have managed to operate in Northeastern Sweida by US support, adding that the terrorists' presence in Northeastern Syria is aimed at weakening the Syrian Army's capabilities in preparing for an imminent operation in Southern Syria.

The website added that another confrontation between the army and ISIL has recently broken out on the Eastern bank of the Euphrates River in a region between Albu Kamal, al-Sha'afa and Hajin, where the army has engaged in fierce clashes with terrorists.

It further said that ISIL has recently deployed in a region that is not among US forces' targets, adding that the terrorists, assisted by the aerial intel provided by the US, are carrying out their suicide attacks against the army in Albu Kamal.

The Arabic-language website of RT quoted a source in the Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria as reporting earlier today that the army men, backed up by the Russian fighter jets, engaged in fierce clashes with the ISIL that tried to storm Palmyra from al-Tanf region that is under US forces' control.

RT further said that the army soldiers fended off the attack after killing or wounding a number of terrorists and destroying their military equipment, adding that the remaining pockets of the ISIL retreated toward al-Tanf.

Al-Rukban Camp near the US-run al-Tanf Base has been turned into a base for terrorist groups, including the ISIL.

In the meantime, the Arabic-language al-Watan reported that the army units exchanged heavy fire with ISIL that had attacked the army positions in a region between al-Mo'ayzileh area and T2 Pumping Station and also near Humeimeh region in Eastern Badiyeh (desert) of Homs, and repelled their offensive.

It further said that Syrian fighter jets struck ISIL's positions and movements in the region, destroying several positions.
