Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) – In a meeting with IRGC forces in his central office in Qom on Tuesday, Grand Ayatollah Hussein Noori Hamedani elaborated on significance of performing the religious duty of Jihad in Islam saying, "There’s a clear distinction between attending  war and performing Jihad in Islam."

 

Elaborating on the differences between war and Jihad, the revered source of emulation emphasized that Islam favors Jihad not war since these two have major distinctions.

 

 "In a war, the main purpose is to occupy land and dominate the materialistic resources; furthermore, Wars are fought to serve the benefits of the oppressive groups and the arrogant powers whereas Jihad is carried out to preserve dignity and integrity of divine religions and to revive spiritual virtues."

 

 Grand Ayatollah Noori went on, "According to holy Quran, the purpose of carrying out Jihad is to liberate the oppressed from the hegemony of the arrogant oppressive rulers."

 

In the end, senior Shia scholar voiced his support for the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps. (IRGC) and said, "US president’s hateful remarks against Iran is worth nothing since IRGC is the beating heart of the Islamic Republic of Iran today."
