"Unity among Muslims is considered as a religious obligation and it is part of the Islamic faith; however, sowing discord and division within the Muslim community is regarded as a sin and must be avoided." said Ayatollah Nabulsi.

Hawzah News Agency (Beirut, Lebanon) – Ayatollah Afif al-Nabulsi, a senior Lebanese cleric, met with a group of Shia and Sunni seminary scholars from Iran on Monday, July ۱۰.

Addressing the Iranian scholars from Northern Khorasan province, Ayatollah Nabulsi asserted, "Unity among Muslims is considered as a religious obligation and it is part of the Islamic faith; however, sowing discord and division within the Muslim community is regarded as a sin and must be avoided."

He added, "Probably, the biggest threat to the Muslim Ummah in the present time is division among Muslims sects. Undermining the unity of the Islamic world is absolutely forbidden in Islam."

"What hope is there when some people openly commit forbidden acts and forget to perform their obligatory religious duties? Muslim scholars must realize their responsibilities in order to strengthen unity among Muslims and engage in peaceful dialogues with followers of other sects," Ayatollah Nabulsi concluded.

End.
