"Everyone is obliged to do the religious duty of enjoining good and forbidding wrong since Imam al-Asr (may Allah hasten his reappearance) expects us all to practice it." said Grand Ayatollah Safi Golpaygani.

Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) – In a meeting with members of the committee for the Islamic tradition of enjoining good and forbidding wrong in the Iranian city of Qom on Monday, April 10, Grand Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi Golpaygani, a Shia source of emulation, made some remarks highlighting the importance of carrying out the religious duty of enjoining good and forbidding wrong within societies.

He said, "If we stop carrying out this religious duty, all of our other religious acts will be spoiled; everyone is responsible to practice this religious tradition since Imam al-Asr (May Allah hasten his reappearance) expects us to do so."

Reiterating that the act of enjoining good and forbidding wrong is not limited to a special class of citizens in the society or a particular situation, Grand Ayatollah Safi added, "This religious tradition is beyond the categories of age, position, social class, etc. It includes all everyday life topics and one must not attend to only some vice and overlook the others."

"Enjoining good and forbidding wrong has been the tradition of holy prophets; Muslim scholars practiced it before us and we also need to do it to make Imam al-Asr (as) happy." Ayatollah Safi concluded.
