Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) – In an interview with Hawzah News, Hujjat al-Islam Reza Berenjkar, head of the institute of Islamic Theology asserted that Islamic Seminaries must respond to new needs of the society, "The main purpose of establishing Islamic Seminaries has been to extract  the religious teachings and to promote them according to the needs of society, this mission gains even more significance especially in modern times, as we're faced with new inquiries and questions raised by the younger generations," Berenjkar said.

"During the process of designing new seminary course books, we must pay special attention to such factors as to stay up-to-date and address the modern inquiries of the society with respect to original seminary principles and teachings," he added.

Member of the Islamic Seminaries' center for compilation of textbooks further said that the main purpose of designing seminary course books is to build up the content on the basis of older versions. "As a matter of fact, compilation of new books does not mean to abandon our previous teachings and educational contents since most of the recent requirements share some roots with the older literature; in fact, the issues which were discussed in the past are still in demand and subject to many arguments, but we are also aware of the need to add some up-to-date topics to seminary text books as well."
